Now is a great time to plant trees, shrubs, and perennials for strong root development before winter.

Time to plant spring flowering bulbs.

Apply fall and winter fertilizers, soil amendments ie gypsum, lime, and weed prevention.

Plant fall cover crops. Adds nitrogen and keeps down weeds until spring when ground is workable.

Time to think of fall pond maintenance.

Light pruning. Save heavy pruning for late winter/early spring to avoid winter kill.

Apply winter mulch over perennial beds to protect plants from winter kill and to provide better weed control for next year.

Time to lift and store dahlia and canna tubers.
